In Castnia, there are spells called Charms. These spells cannot be used independently of themselves, but must be added on to a already existing spell. For example, one type of spell is the Speed Charm. This charm may be added to, say, a normally slow Earth Spear, to increase its speed. Charms, like spell can be more or less effective depending of the type of spell it is being used on, the strength of the user, as well as the strength of the charm. Other factors are involved in using charms as well, such as the time it takes to form the charm, the concentration used when forming the charm, or the amount of magic used in its forming.
